Sterling Life Sciences sponsors Frost & Sullivan Healthcare Awards event in Singapore on 8 June
By: Bernard Lee
On June 8, Sterling Life Sciences was showcased as a Silver Sponsor at the Frost & Sullivan's Excellence in Healthcare Awards, held for the second consecutive year in Singapore. The Healthcare Awards recognize achievements in leadership and growth in categories covering Medical Devices, Clinical Diagnostics, Biotechnology, Healthcare Technology and Pharmaceuticals among companies across Asia Pacific.
Held at the 5-star Shangri La Hotel, the event began with a cocktail reception, followed by a black-tie dinner and official awards presentation. Participants of the event comprised representatives from 28 companies across Asia Pacific including Siemens, Medtronics, Apex, Solco Biomedical, Roche Diagnostics, AGFA Healthcare, and Abbott Diagnostics.
As a Silver Sponsor to the event, Sterling's corporate logo, and new tagline (";We understand the Science") were represented prominently in the stage backdrop, and all promotional materials, and with its corporate profile distributed to all 200 participants on that night. Sterling Life Sciences was also featured in the event's website at www.healthcare-awards.com. Mr Robin Tan, Sterling's Director and Head of Life Sciences Practice was also invited to present an award in the Clinical Diagnostics category.
Of significance was the presence of Sterling's invited guest of honor to its VIP table, many of whom are known decision makers within their respective organizations. It was an opportunity for Sterling to discuss strategic issues and recruitment practices among key leaders, and in recognition of their support and continued business relations with Sterling.
Among Sterling's guest were Robert Teoh (Managing Director, I3 Research), Edmund Leong (Strategic Director, PPD), Christophe Tounarie (Senior Director, Pharmanet), Arik Soh (Regional Recruiter, PPD), Anthony Bishop ( Project Manager, Merlion Pharma) and David Foo (Business Development Manager, Albany Molecular). Sterling itself was represented by Robin Tan and Senior Consultant, Bernard Lee.
Another of Sterling's key client, Quintiles Transnational was also present as an award recipient. Quintiles had been a valued client of Sterling's and the event was an excellent platform to interact with key management personnel within Quintiles including Dr. Arnand Tharmaratnam, CEO of Quintiles Asia and Michael Klein, Executive Director and Head of Clinical Development.
The Frost & Sullivan awards had been an ideal business networking and public relations opportunity for Sterling to consolidate its standing, and recognition as a specialist in the Life Sciences recruiting arena (and it was also evident that the event was devoid of any competition in the form of other recruiters!).
The business potential of Sterling's sponsorship of this event healthcare event was significant as we were able to reach out to a wider audience within the sector. It also enabled us to solidify present business relations and secure new assignments from existing clients, many of which are Clinical Research Organizations (CROs), and also from new clients such as I3 Research. Currently recruitment for the clinical research industry accounts for more than 70% of Sterling Life Sciences' revenue in Singapore.
Overall, Sterling Life Sciences was able to 'shine' at this event, and together with the positive feedback from our 6 specially invited clients that night, we're extremely pleased with such a major success; something which we will continue to strive for in our on-going business development activities.
